Product design for SimpleTrac
Tools: Adobe XD, Bootstrap, Illustrator, Rhino
Individual graduation project
SimpleTrac is a company providing glucose management service targeting at type 2 diabete patients. They have a patent in painless glucose measuring, and are looking for a design to leverage the patented technology.
People who have type 2 diabetes are normally over 45 years old. They have a different mental model from ours, thus their habit of using products, either hardware or software, also differs. While the glucose management services in the current market are complex to use, unfriendly to users, and not accurate, there is really not an ideal way to manage their glucose level. With the new patented technology of SimpleTrac, I designed the 1st version of the product.
The major problems are:
Measuring process is too complex
The target users tend to interpret interfaces different from the younger generation who have been brought up in digital era
The real needs of target users
All the major features are designed to be easy to access. With all the major features categorized into 4 major groups, I use a tab menu to display all of them on the homepage, so that users know that there are these features accessible. In some features that contains sub-categories, I use an upper tab menu to show these options.
Typical measuring process
iHealthBG5 is a top-seller in Chinese glucose management product market. It provides reliable measuring and tracking service. The measuring process, however, is very complex.
